THE CAPITALISM ESCAPE ROOM

Our Vision:

We are reimagining economic systems that prioritise planetary health, equality, and well-being. Welcome to THE CAPITALISM ESCAPE ROOM —an immersive, story-driven experience. The challenge? To work together to confront escalating challenges and “escape” capitalism before ecological collapse.

Our Partnership

  • Slowmentum (Stephen Hilton & James Martin): Integrating regenerative principles into projects, they promote “slowness” as a counter to capitalism’s relentless pace, fostering equity, sustainability, and deeper connections.

  • Kate Arthurs: A specialist in creative dialogue and cultural diplomacy, Kate runs an eco-conscious hospitality business in Bath, supporting artists and organisations with civic and ecological missions.

  • Sunnie Martin: MyWorld Scholar and founder of Hand in the Dark, Sunnie uses creative technologies and immersive storytelling to explore mental health and neurodivergence, driving change

  • Olly Langdon: Co-founder of Kilter Theatre, Olly creates participatory arts events tackling sustainability and socio-political themes, inspiring communities with innovative, hopeful visions.

  • Claudia Firth: A Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol Business School, Claudia brings expertise in alternative economic practices and co-creation through the Bristol Commons.

Our Project:

Supported by The Studio’s Innovation Fund, we will combine our expertise in interactive theatre, arts, alternative economies, creative audio technologies, and mental health with our deep roots in Bath and Bristol, to co-create a prototype CAPITALISM ESCAPE ROOM experience by July 2025.

The research phase begins in Jan 2025. Sign up below to follow our progress - and let’s escape together!
